What sounds does poetry make? Can poetry speak through images? Can we bring poetry into action, maybe through a song, dance or play? Join us for a creative workshop with children at the Zilla Parishad School in Ulwe, where project-affected citizens are residing in Sector 24 and 25 of this node, resulting from the making of the Navi Mumbai International Airport.
Children will learn to make art and poetry through words inspired by the protest-writings of Shahir Pundalik Mhatre and their own lived experiences in their neighbourhood and environment. They will explore these words through images, songs, play, actions, and bookmaking.
Let’s walk and talk and let our poetry make some sound!
Facilitators: Shahir Pundalik Mhatre (Agri-Koli Poet & Activist) and Jinal Sangoi (Artist and Co-director, CASP)
In collaboration with New City Limits Collective.
From Up There They Were Just Numbers (2019-2024) is co-produced by the artist-filmmaker, Kush Badhwar and CASP.
March 15th and 16th, 2024 | 9.30 pm – 11.30 pm | Zila Parishad School, Sector 24, Ulwe, Navi Mumbai.
